A North Carolina native, Ken has lived in the Asheville area for almost 30 years. While attending NC State University in the 1970’s, Ken fell in love with Asheville while rock climbing and backpacking many of Western North Carolina’s Mountain scenic areas. His love of mountains took him west to graduate school at the University of Utah, where skiing and river running were favorite pursuits. That same love of mountains and the outdoors took him to the Pacific Northwest where sailing and skiing complemented a career in education at the University of Puget Sound. Eventually the beauty and culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains called him home and he returned to Asheville in 1989.
Ken’s real estate skills are a convergence of expertise from careers in advertising, art, and higher education. An advertising career cultivated in Ken the understanding of the power that words and images have in successfully marketing his clients’ properties. His keen interest in art led Ken and his wife, Nancy to found Ariel Gallery, a cooperative art gallery in Asheville, and he has served as President of the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association. Ken’s career also includes numerous years in higher education, as Professor of Sociology and University Administration. His many years of experience fuse Ken’s skills of marketing, thoughtful negotiation, active listening and a passion for real estate.
Ken and Nancy love travel and the outdoors and consider themselves “culture junkies”. They love new and different places, ideas, foods, and ways of life. No wonder the Asheville area is where they call home!
